DESCRIPTION:\nIf you are familiar with ‘Lord of the Rings’ then you will already be aware of ‘Uncial’ script.\n\n\n\nVenue: Strelley Hall, Nottinghamshire\n\n\n\nCourse Description:\n\n\n\nUncial is a form of script (written neither entirely in capital, or lower case letters) commonly used from the 4th to 8th centuries AD by Greek and Latin Scribes to produce world renowned manuscripts such as the Book of Kells.\n\n\n\nOn this one-day workshop you will have the opportunity to learn this technique and practice throughout the day. Sessions are always light hearted, fun and aimed to give an understanding of the skills needed to produce this very popular and beautiful script. Ideal for embellishing your crafted cards with those personal touches or generating your own unique designs.\n\n\n\nWhether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your existing skills, this class offers an initial foundation in the art of elegant Uncial penmanship.\n\n\n\nAfter a break for lunch you will learn about design, layout and how to use this script to its full potential. Complete a finished piece of your choice (several templates to choose from) by combining all the classic skills of the script.\n\n\n\nEverything is provided for the class including a basic nib holder and chisel point pen nib (right or left handed available.
